but interesting to see that not a lot of our turkish members have voiced an opinion on this thread...............
Wot kan anyone say to thys. Its murder people should be punished by law. Threads like thys always create controvercy not becos we agree but perhaps becos some narrow minded people thynk all Kurds are like thys.. In Western society its thought unbelievable how any person kan kill theri own children/sister/niece. I dont thynk thys will eva stop. But when stories like thys one run in the news rascist attacks stastistics grow. Not all same, you cant paint every kurdish person same as these. Its not fair..

In the eyes of her family the gurl has done the worst thyng she kould do to her family... I dont thynk there will be many people will agree that wot has happen here is acceptable, and if they do, they are not silly enough to come on and become target for abuse... Well i wouldnt thynk so anyway, but we shall see...

am not paintin anyone the same my point is that its wrong in the year of 2010 that these things still happen in the name of tradition
am sorry but killing is no excuse for tradition but we will never make people admit that these horrible crimes are wrong - no matter what
part of the world they live in but at the same time it suites people to be westernised, make/take money and all the good things
of the modern life - they soon find their voices then when all these opportunities come along - certainly not slow off the mark then........

I understand fully wot your saying that thys is 2010 and we kant believe thys styll goes on, and your absolutely correct tradition is no excuse for killing people. But people in southern Turkey would be equally appalled to know that westerners have granny homes to put their old people in when they become old and infirm. It oculd be say not all westerners do thys to their elderly realtives but it same for Kurdish families, not all kill in name of honor... I dont agree wyth honor killings but she did wrong to shame her family. she should be punished. She knows rules of her culture, she should have known better. Its real shame. I alot of members wont agree wyth me but that is their choice everyone entitle to their opinion. Western women dont understand why women in Eastern relationships put up wyth thys kind of supression from male dominated society, but my answer to thys is, until you have walk in someone shoes then you really cant say....

Why you say sorry to me Pzelda? ineva say killing is right thyng to do, all im saying is that she disrespected her family, belive me western women do not understand thys and that is why alot of relationships between east and west dont work... Of course is wrong to kill, but is also wrong to disrespect your family in thys way, in thys part of world.. Im reckon most of gurl members on thys forum are Western, so unless you have walked in thefootsteps of thys kind of liveing there will be no true understanding of how these minds of Kurdish people work. Yeah you might thynk you read o few reports here and there or books, but only persons living thys life really knows the truth of thys situation... evryone entitle their opinion and in mine, she was living in her family village she show no respect, she deserve to be punished but killing is wrong. I no doubt get abuse for say thys, i dont care, living life in Glasgow or newcastle or any other place in Uk is a million miles from living in SE Turkey... Do parents in Uk not punish their children for disrepect them? .....................

at the moment no parents dont punish their children for disrespecting them, that is why this country is going to pot!! no discipline for the youngsters as the parent will get done for abuse!!!
it is wrong she has been killed s-l and yes everyone is entitled to their own opinion, my opinion is its wrong! and no matter where in the world it is, its plain wrong! Because in a sense it is the same as domestic violence
because is it therefore right that a women is badly beaten or a man because they showed "disrespect" or "shame" their partner? no the argument can be seen in many ways

Well the first sentence here tells me that if people didnt have the softy approache to parenting that they do now days then world would be nicer ,saferer place.Unfortuneatly children copy parents, old phrase monkey see monkey do. CHildren learn most from parents. In first 5 years of child life they learn more than they will their whole lives. WHo are their teachers for these forst five years? their parents!
In Uk for instance our aprroach to religion and education takes back seat . In alot of Eastern countries regligion and education build higher morals from early age. We learn respect and descpline from parents. Culture is important as is family life. These are all thyngs i see missing in Scotland where i live. Children and young adults get into alot of troubles with alcohol and street fighting. When you ask why you thynk thys happens the answer you usually get is "there is nothyng for young people to do" but if you look in countries, Turkey, afghanastan,Iraq these children same age dont have thyngs to do and even less money but they dont beat up other children, and video on their mobile or break into someone house... It all about teaching right from wrong, discpline and respect. All thyngs you learn from minute your put on your mother breast.... People where i live dont have respect for themselves neva mind each other, how kan thys teach a child anythyg? .......
